Exact numbers and nationalities of foreign doctors in Germany in the years 2012 and 2013 by the German Medical Association

The following statistics are from the website of the German Medical Association (Bundesaerztekammer) (Link to the website in English and German). For the sake of comparison, I placed links to PDFs of the statistics by the end of the years 2013 and 2012. Unfortuantley, the files are in German. However, the names of countries in German are close to English. Moreover, you only need to look at the column numbered “1” and titled “Anzahl (number)” to see the total number of physicians from each country. The column numbered “2” and titled (Veränd. z. Vj.i.%) shows the changes from the previous year (not sure though). For example, total number of doctors from Belgien (Belgium) is 297 with a -0.7 change from last 2012. The first columns is divided into two small columns.

Concerning Jordan, the population of Jordan is ~6.4 (2012 statistics) million and the number of Jordanian doctors in Germany in 2013 was 533 with +18.4 change from 2012. I was amazed to see the number of doctors from Egypt, a country with a population of more than 80 million (i.e., 11.9 times the population of Jordan). The number of Egyptian doctors in Germany at the end of 2013 was 580 with +35.2 change from 2012. The bar chart below shows the numbers of doctors from Arab countries by 31.12.2013. These are the only Arab countries mentioned in the statistics. This probably means that the number of doctors from the rest of Arab countries are negligible and calculated under the category of “Total miscellanious (Sonstige insgesamt)”.
