German Keyboard Layout (Keys) – Deutsch Tastatur

Do you have a non-German keyboard? You do not know where the Ä or Ö is? You do not how to type @ or – or >? A German keyboard is quite different from English keyboard, especially with the punctuation marks and symbols.  If you do not have a German keyboard, how can you know the exact locations of letters, punctuation marks, and symbols? The default windows program “On-Screen Keyboard” can help you. Every windows PC has it. You can open the program each time you want to see a German keyboard. Alternatively, you can do like what I do, by storing snapshots of it on your desktop. I believe this will save your time. There are a lot of photos on the internet of German keyboards. I tried many of them for months. However, the snapshots that I made from the On-Screen Keyboard are the best (Here is a link to a Google Images search for “German keyboard”. You can compare the images there with the images from the On-Screen Keyboard at the end of this post).

How can you open thisthe On-Screen Keyboard program? There are two methods:

You can click on start and then search for “on.” The program will be on the top of the search results:

You can take the following steps to open the program from its default location in the start menu:

1. Start> All Programs

2. Accessories> Ease of Access > On-Screen Keyboard

3. The program starts displaying the keyboard of your default computer language (in my case, it is English). You can then switch the language of your computer to German and the program will display the German keyboard.

4. This first snapshot is what you will see with no keyboard key pressed:

5 This second snapshot is what you will see with the shift key pressed:

6. This third snapshot is what you will see with the Alt Gr key pressed (it is the Alt key in your keyboard located at the right side). You can also press alt + CTRL to see this view too. For example, to type @, press Alt Gr + q or Ctrl + Alt + q.

You can save the last three snapshots (4-6) on your desktop. I did that and each time I forget the position of a letter or punctuation mark, I open these photos and look it up. This saves time rather than going through the entire road each time (Start> Accessories > Ease of Access > On-Screen Keyboard > Switch to German).

Alternatively, you can download this single photo that contain the three above snapshots togeher. I think it is more practical than having three separate photos:

German Channels on Hotbird (13°E): Learning German via Satellite?

One way to learn and improve your skills in a new language is to imitate children when they learn their mother languages. Children do not go to schools or institutes to learn their mother languages; they simply listen to the language spoken around them. With time, they acquire it.

I knew the above technique of “simply listening to the language spoken” when I was approximately in the ninth grade. Before that, it did not turn to me to start watching TV programs that are aired in English without translation. Yes, I used to watch a lot of Hollywood movie and series on satellites. But, I benefited so little from that because I entirely depended on the Arabic subtitles. “I watch movies without subtitles” I heard this sentence from four of the most proficient and American-accent speaking Jordanians I know. They all advised me to watch movies without subtitles. A friend of mine also believed in the above technique. He told me about an uncle of his who stuck a plaster on the lower aspect of his LCD TV screen in order to hide the Arabic translation; very interesting!

After beginning to hide the subtitles and watching English-only channels, I could easily notice that I started to significantly improve my English . I started paying more attention to what is said in movies. I think that helped me a lot in improving my English, mainly in listening and speaking. Yes, speaking. Although I am just listening, but I am listening to the correct pronunciation again and again. I believe that with time, you will start noticing the flaws in your pronunciation. Hence, you will feel the need to modify how you say things.

Sine early July, I started learning the German language. From the first days of my starting to learn the German language, I began downloading German videos, mainly videos and movies. Now, I have more than 75 GB of such material.

I watched a lot of these German videos and movies. I did that on my laptop and mobile phone. It was a great experience! Especially the German movies! Have you ever watched the German movie Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others)?

To listen also to German, I searched the internet for German radios. I discovered many websites and a program that offers this service for free:

TuneIn: A radio stations website: A few days ago, in its facebook page, I read that the number of stations in this website is now more than 100,000. Their service is great. The sound is very clear, and it is easy to explore the stations based on language, country, genre, and bitrate. Moreover, you can download a mobile application of this website and start listening to the radio on your phone. How much data can this consume? Please continue reading below before deciding to listen to a radio on your mobile phone:

RarmaRadio: This program is like the TuneIn radio website. You can explore stations based on country. I could roughly calculate that this program has 700+ German Radio stations. Below is the interface of the program. This program is totally free. You can record what you listen to for later hearing offline. Notice the selected station “Bayern 5 Aktuell”. I like it the best and listened to it almost 95% of the time.

The interface of RarmaRadio showing some of the +700 channels it has.

All in all, listening to German radio stations over the internet is certainly a great help. The sound is crystal-clear and you have many options for listening. Nonetheless, the only thing that I did not like was that radio listening consumes a lot of bandwidth. For example, if you listened for 10 hours for a radio station airing at a bitrate of 56 kbps, this mean at least 246+ MB of bandwidth consumed (you can see how the calculations are made in the screenshot next). This is a great disadvantage because I do not have an ADSL connection and the 3G internet prices in Jordan are extremely high. For example, Zain gives me 2 GB of monthly download in return for 6 JD ($8.46).  These are not enough for 7 days! How come I listen to a radio!

A post in a forum explaining how to calculate exactly how much data can listening to the radio over the internet consume.

Secondly, and most importantly, with time, I discovered that it would be much more interesting and beneficial to both watch and listen to German at the same time. I searched the internet for German TV channels. The outcome was not encouraging. Firstly, of course, the data usage that will be required. If 10 hours of radio hearing can consume 250+ MB, how about TV watching? Secondly, and as well importantly, if you are using your computer, then naturally, you cannot both watch the channel and do anything else on your TV.

The solution? I bought a satellite receiver and its appliances. It coasted my “father”, with installation fees, 58 JDs. I had to buy a 90-cm diameter satellite dish.

My G-Guard satellite dish. It costed me, with insatllation fees, 28 JD ($39.48). In the far backgroud at the left appears the Baqa'a refugee camp. I wanted to show the camp in my photo. This is why I did not put the satellite in the center of the photo.

Isn’t a smaller one good enough? Well, the Arab satellites (Nilesat and Arabsat), do not have German-speaking channels at ALL. To receive transmission from European satellites, you need larger dishes as large as 3 meter and more. I searched the internet for the satellites that air German channels. It turned out that German channels, both free and scrambled, are aired most commonly on a satellite called “Astra 1H @ 19.2°E”. This satellite contains at least 100 German channels. You can see this very useful page that summarizes the German channels on different satellites including Astra 1 H @ 19.2 E:

Unfortunately, the coverage of this satellite does not reach Jordan and virtually any other Arab country. The following is a coverage map of the Astra 1H satellite.

ASTRA 1H geograpical coverage.

ASTRA 1H geograpical coverage.

As a result, this left me only with the Hotbird satellite. It turned out that there are multiple Hotbird satellites. The one that we have in Jordan is called “Hotbird 13°East”. Or at least, this is the one which the satellite men installed for us here in Amman and in Karak and which I saw in Jordanian homes. The above 90-cm satellite dish I bought was enough to secure for me a signal quality of up to 60%. The satellite man promised that this is enough to avoid signal problems even during the winter months.

I downloaded all the free channels (FTA) in this satellite. They turned out to be a little bit more than 500. How many German channels (not German-speaking) are out of these 500+? The German channels transmitting 24/7 in German are, after much search, only 2. Yes, two:
1) Das Erste.

2) Das Zweite Deutsche Fernsehen (ZDF)

Now, I will come to details. The third and last Hotbird channel that airs German 24/7 is Euronews. However, it is only the sound that is in German. The writing in this channel is in English. By default, you listen to this channel in English. However, if you change the audio settings of this channel, then you can listen to it in 2 languages other than English: German and French. I do not like this channel at all because the writing is in English. Reading the writing in German on Das Erste and ZDF is a great help. This is one main reason that makes watching TV better than listening to the radio: You can read the language!

There are three other German channels airing in German. However, they do not do that 24/7:
1) The Deutsche Welle: It airs most of the day in English. From the morning time, since about 7:00 AM GMT, until slightly after midday, I noticed that its airs in German.

2) S.Neu Jerusalem: It is a Christian channel. S.Neu Jerusalem airs in German, English, and Italian. I did not establish the times in which it airs in German. This channel puts huge emphasis on Animal protection. This is the first Christian channel in my life to see with such an obsession about animals. In the past, I found some Christian channels on Hotbird who seem to be obsessed with the protection of Israel. But… to protect animals… This is my first!

3) Erde und Mensch: Again, it does not transmit only in German. I am now watching it airing in French.

Finally, there are two other German-speaking non-German channels that I know of. They are from Switzerland. They are the RTL 2 Channel and SRF info. However, many told me that because I am a beginner (even if I am an advanced German language learner), then the dialect of German spoken in Switzerland is very hard to understand. Therefore, it is better to stick only with German channels.

Am I sure of the above number of channels? I think so. I searched all the channels on Hotbird for German channels. Also, I googled a lot for “German Channels on Hotbird”. I hope a website proved my list wrong. On the contrary, all the top search results support my conclusion. This is a great website that lists all the German channels on the Hotbird satellite (click here please). The frequencies in it were last updated not less 27-10-2013. I tried downloading all of the frequencies it mentions. My list above did not change.

JN1 – Jewish news one: This channel always airs in English.

Bundeswehr TV: It did not download with me!

My final list of the German channels on Hotbird 13 E:

My final list of the German channels on Hotbird 13 E

58 JD ($81.78) = Two German German-Speaking TV Channels on Hotbird 13 degrees E

All in all, I ended up now most of the time only watching Das Erste and ZDF. At the beginning, I was sad because in return of my 58 JD ($81.78) investment, I got only two German channels airing in German 24/7. Nonetheless, I am now very happy with them. I never felt bored by both of them ending up not watching any thing at all. These channels are really diverse. They air news, movies, talk shows, and a hell lot number of series. You do not expect how many series are aired on these two channels! I could count at least 6.

How to stop facebook from reminding you of the birthdays of your facebook friends? With Social Fixer, no more friends birthdays reminders/notifications.

I love my family members, relatives, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, and any other person that may lie under a different category and I have him/her in facebook as a friend.

“Do others what do you want others to do you”. Personally, I grew up not thinking that a birthday is a special day that needs to be given much attention. When I was a child, my parents used to make it special by making a delicious meal, certainly a cake and singing me the birthday song. But I cannot remember when I last had this.
My birthday is at the end of May. Either in School, or in University, this coincides with the final exams of the scholastic/University year. As a result, the last thing that I would care about in such a day is a birthday a party. I have much more important things to care for!
At the beginning, I and facebook had a difficult relationship. One reason that I usually stated for not having a facebook account was that you will have to congratulate your friends when their birthdays come. Later on, I was convinced by the idea that you need to congratulate special person. I did that initially. But later on, I asked myself: “Would not this cause some facebook friends of mine that to be angry to see that I congratulate many people but not him/her?” As a result, I easily solved it by no longer congratulating any of my facebook friends in their birthdays (even my first-degree and second-degree family relatives)! In return, by default, I disabled anyone from writing on my facebook wall. As a result, when my birthday comes, even if anyone thought of writing me something on my wall, he will not be able to :). In my last birthday, for example, no one wrote on my wall! So, I did not congratulate you, I am not expecting you to congratulate me in return.

Facebook birthday reminders

Source: “Use Facebook’s Birthday Reminders to make people think of you”. Link.

As I got used to that, I grew impatient by the facebook birthday reminders. I do not want them! Why force me to see them every day a birthday of a facebook friend of mine comes? Why do facebook compulsorily remind facebook users with that? Did not you notice that there is no option to remove this feature? As a result, I resorted to a google search to help me find a solution. After considerable search of 1-2 hours, I did not find a solution. If a definite solution exists to any software or internet question, then it definitely appears quickly when making a google search. As a result, I surrendered.

After being installed, this extension gives you the opportunity to do many things. I adore the ability of this extension to hide many compulsory parts of the facebook page: Apps recommendations, pages recommendations, friends suggestions, and so on and so forth of annoying reminders and announcements. This is a concise list of the main features of this extension:

Features of social fixer

Today, in the website of Social fixer, I was extremely happy to read that one of its new features is: The ability to “Hide more things”. One of the new things that can be hidden is? Yes, you guess it: Birthday Reminders.

I activated this feature and it is now working. Now, the right side of my facebook page contains nothing except the very useful facebook feature of reminding me with Events that I said that I am going to. You can see how “empty” is my facebook home page! No annoying reminders I do not like : )

Notice the empty right side of my facebook home page. Also, notice the activated blue "Social Fixer" icon: Top right.

Can I download a YouTube playlist or a YouTube channel using IDM (Internet Download Manager)? No!

Internet Download Manager- the fastest download accelerator

Yes, you can download individual YouTube videos using IDM. Unfortunately, IDM does not support automatic downloading of multiple YouTube videos. In other words, IDM does not support downloading YouTube playlists or YouTube channels.

The following description is from the official website of IDM:

 YouTube grabber.

Internet Download Manager can record and download FLV videos from popular sites like YouTube, MySpaceTV, and Google Video. The best way of downloading webpage embedded videos from the Internet is here. After installing IDM, “Download This Video” button pops up whenever you are watching a video anywhere in the Internet. Just click on the button to start downloading clips.

Notice the green “Download This Video” button in the left upper corner of the page.

As a result, you need another program called Free YouTube Download . In a previous post of mine, I explained  how to use it to download YouTube playlists or YouTube channels . Recently, in an indication of how good this program is, this post has become the second most common generator of visitors to my Blog; 15.0% (1,010) of all visits to my blog during the last 3 months.

How to download all videos from a youtube playlist or even all videos of a youtube channel?

Filetype: How to use google to search for PowerPoint presentations?

If you were asked to prepare a PowerPoint presentation then you can use google to search for already prepared ones.

I am a Medical students. Through the following method, I can easily locate tens of presentations related to common topics in Medicine.

So, how to ask google to show results that are PowerPoint presentations?

In the main page of google, type the topic you want to search for. For example, “Pneumonia”. However, to only get results that are PowerPoint presentations, you need to add the following: “Filetype:ppt” or “Filetype:pptx“. PPT and PPTX are the extensions of PowerPoint files. See the images below:

Similarly, you can use this method to search for other file types. For example, if you want to search for word documents, type: “Pneumonia filetype:doc” or “Pneumonia filetype:docx“. Or if you want to search for PDF files, type: “Pneumonia filetype:pdf“.

How to increase the number of comments that appear under a youtube video from 10 to 500?

Sometimes, there are a lot of comments under a youtube video. What if you are interested in reading them all? Unfortunately, youtube only shows 10 comments/page. As you probably have noticed, there are videos that contain hundreds, thousands, and up to millions of comments (See this example of viral Justin Beieber video: 8,317,550 comments at this moment). Therefore, to read a large number of comments 10 at a time is a very tiring process.

As usual, I searched google for a solution using keywords like: increase comments under youtube video, see more comments youtube, show all comments under youtube video… My trials were all futile.

Later on, I noticed that one google result took me to a youtube video page that contains hundreds of comments. I counted the number of comments and it turned to be very large: 500 comments/page!

The question is: Can this be reproducible? Yes, you can do it for any video you want. You can make youtube show 500 comments per page.

How can you show 500 comments/page?

1) In the address bar, locate the  URL of the video. For example, this video of Prof. Stephen Hawking:

2) In the URL, notice this part (watch).

3) Delete it and type (all_comments) instead of it so that the title of this video becomes:

You are done! Try this with any video you like. The only problem, if any, is that you cannot watch the video when you show 500 comments/page. Youtube shows, in addition to the 500 comments/page, three thumbnails of the video in addition to its title, number of views, when added, and the user who added it.

Umniah Evo: Thank you Umniah! إنترنت الجيل الثالث اللاسلكي من شركة أمنية: شكراً

Since less than a month ago, Jordanian Umniah started providing 3.75G internet services. My brother wanted to buy a new internet connection. We had many wireless options including Zain, WiTribe, Umniah WiMax, and Orange.

The prices which Uminah offered were very low compared to other operators not to mentione a promised speed of up to 42.2 MB/Second. My brother wanted a download limit of 10 GB. This comes in return for 10 JDs per month not including a sales tax of 8%.

Personally, because of the low prices and the promised high speed, I believed that there could be hidden fees or that the internet speed will be slow. But we did not have an option because for the same price, Zain gives you a download limit of only 5 GB.

Therefore, we took the plunge of buying a internet flash from Umniah. We bought a flash for a price of about 18 JD which gives you a speed of up to ~4MB/sec as the customer service empolyee said. Are we happy now that we have bought the flash memory?

We are absoultely happy. The internet speed is not less than 4 MB/sec in 90% of my testing it in I am currently in Safout\ Amman. I do not know if the situation is the same in Karak. The customer services employee, however, said that the internet coverage is available wherever Umniah mobile coverage is available.

What is more important, you do not need to download an application like Zain interent flash requires. The installation process takes seconds and you are online.

For making internet available to a higher percentage of Jordanians at high speeds and at low prices. I say to Umniah: Thank you! I really love this company!

Update 05/10/2013:

Now, almost one year after we first used Umniah 3G service, we are no longer continuing with it. The interent speed is very slow most hours of the day especially in the evening and at night. My brother many times called the customer care center. However, other than many promises of solving the problem, we did not receive anything. The service is still very bad! Almost two weeks ago, my brother stopped charging his Umniah Internet Dongle!

Shame on you Umniah! You had put me down!

Umniah: Shame on you... You broke my "heart"!

Reverse Music Search: How to search for a song or a piece of music that you do not know?

Have you ever heard an untitled song or a piece of music on your computer or on the internet and wanted to know who is the author of it?

Someone might suggest searching for the song using its lyrics. This is a good suggestion. However, what if the song  is in a foreign language? Moreover, a piece of music, like a symphony for example,  does not have lyrics in the first place so that you can google them.

How can you locate this bloody song or music then?

Well, a certain number of years ago, this was surely technologically impossible. The only way was to let a person who happens to be an expert in songs or symphonies listen… then tell you the answer; if he knows!

Nowadays, an internet website can do this job. You only need to play the song or the music, or more amazingly, “search by your voice by singing or humming” and the site will do the job.

Isn’t this amazing?

Personally, I have tried to locate a piece of music that was played during my high school graduation 6 years ago. For 6 years, I didn’t know the name of that music. Within seconds after using the service of this site, it turned out to be a “The Mass” by “Era”. I tried the website multiple times to locate about a couple of songs and symphonies I have been looking for their authors since years, I was successful in almost all of my trials. The URL of this amazing website is:

How does it work?

1. Play the music on your compute or on the internet. If you have a microphone, you can sing or hum using it. However, I haven’t tried this. I just modifed “Adobe Flash Player Setting” in the website so that the source of recording would be the what is played. See the follwing steps. Skip these steps and move to step 2 if you simply want to “sing or hum”.

A. Select “Click and Sing or Hum”

B. Select “Deny”

C. Click on “Microphone Settings”

D. Select the microphone icon then choose your audio device from the drop down menu seen below. Next, select close.

E. Refresh the website and proceede to the next step.

2. In the main page of the website, click on “Click and Sing or Hum”.

3. Select “Allow” from the box that appeared after the previous step.

4. The site will then start recording.

5. After approximately 10 seconds, the site will stop recording, start recording, and finally show the search results.

Who or what was responsilbe for causing to shut down? Was it a technical error? Was it a financial problem? Or was it “The International Publishers Association and the German Publishers and Booksellers Association”?

The International Publishers Association and The German Publishers and Booksellers Association

imageToday, the above two association issued the following “victorious” joint press release not only to reveal the reason behind the shutting down of, but also, to officially confirm “the death” of When reading the press release, you can sense how happy and elated are these people about their “important sucess in the combat against internet piracy”.

I copied thier press release from a pdf file posted in their website. Is this considered as a form of piracy? Would this “illegal copying” cause the shutting down of my blog as well?

Joint Press Release of the International Publishers Association and the German Publishers and Booksellers Association

Publishers Strike Major Blow against Internet Piracy

Geneva, 15 February 2012

Yesterday, an international alliance of publishers and publishers’ associations achieved an important success in the combat against internet piracy. Despite significant technical and legal obstacles, the alliance was able to locate the alleged operators of both the sharehoster service and the link library, and successfully served judicial cease-and-desist orders on both.

The two entities created and operated an “internet library” which made available illegally more than 400,000 high quality e-books for immediate, free and anonymous download. The operators generated an estimated turnover of EUR 8 million (USD 10,602,400) from advertising revenues, donations and sales of premium-level accounts, thereby ranking the sites among the top piracy websites in the world.

“Today, the international book industry has shown that it continues to stand up against organised copyright crime.” says Jens Bammel, Secretary General of the International Publishers Association. “We will not tolerate freeloaders who make unjustified profits by depriving authors and publishers of their due reward. This is an important step towards a more transparent, honest and fair trade of digital content on the Internet.”

“This case demonstrates, in particular in the context of current debates, that systematic copyright infringement has developed into a highly criminal and lucrative business. The fight against piracy is not an impediment on one’s freedom of expression, but a necessity to reinstate the rule of law on the internet. It is not only in the interest of the thousands of people who dedicate their working lives to the development of our cultural heritage, but first of all in the interest of the authors who depend on fair compensation for their work. Whoever ignores how these issues are intertwined, seriously threatens the cultural diversity in our country.“ says Alexander Skipis, CEO of Börsenverein (German Publishers and Booksellers Association).

The close ties between a sharehoster service and a link library meant that the targeted entities were particularly harmful as all illegally uploaded copyright works were made immediately accessible to all internet users. The international publishers were able to assert extensive claims against the service providers who had partially concealed their identities. They were able to obtain a total of 17 interim injunctions from the Landgericht (regional court) of Munich I, and successfully served these in Ireland. In doing this, the participating publishers demonstrate their continued determination to not simply ignore copyright piracy, but to fight the large illegal platforms with all available legal measures.

The international alliance of publishers is coordinated by the German Publishers and Booksellers Association (Börsenverein), the International Publishers Association and German law firm Lausen. The participating publishing houses are Cambridge University Press, Georg Thieme, Harper Collins, Hogrefe, Macmillan Publishers Ltd., Cengage Learning, Elsevier, John Wiley & Sons, The McGraw-Hill Companies, Pearson Education Ltd., Pearson Education Inc., Oxford University Press, Springer, Taylor & Francis, C.H. Beck as well as Walter De Gruyter. The legal proceedings are also supported by the Association of American Publishers (AAP), the Dutch Publishers Association (NUV), the Italian Publishers Association (AIE) and the International Association of Scientific Technical and Medical Publishers (STM).

How to download all videos from a youtube playlist or even all videos of a youtube channel?

Notice: I am writing this video because many medical students have contacted me on youtube asking me for instructions on how to download some videos from my channel. Namely, anatmoy videos by Dr. Ahmed M. Kamal. I responded to each person individually. However, because of being asked this question frequently, I decided to pubish a post about the topic. “The straw that broke the camel’s back was this comment” by youtube user “freehomeland”:

Apparently, this person is not asking for howto download my channel. However, downloading the channel is what he will certainly ask me to teach him after I tell him that the way he is planning to download the same videos is not only more lengthy, but most importantly, would cause him to download unnammed videos in a very rare format that can only be played (to my knowledge) using “Windows media player classic”. So, Mr. Homeland, download the videos from my channel. It would save you not only effort and time, but aslo,  the “quality” of the videos you are going to download. Thank you.

Two years ago, it was the first time that I first needed to download multiple videos from a youtube channel. There are a lot of programs that allows you to download individual videos like Real Player, Internet Download Manager… But I  wanted a program that could download 20 or 30 videos automatically without the need of my opening each video, clicking download, choosing where to download the video, starting the download, etc.

I remeber that I searched for hours without finding a program that could achive this goal. “There is no such program!!!” I easily deduced. At some point, I found a firefox addon that could do the multiple downloads automatically. Only to ruin my happiness, many errors occurred and downloading each video individually turned out to be much easier than using their addon.

I remember that I surrendered, “It is impossible that such a program exists” I thought. No doubt, the number of youtube visitors will decrease if every user could download all videos  of a playlist or a channel and later on watch them offline. What do you think?

But to my amazement, up to this moment, I am still fascinated by a program I found; it is called “Free Youtube Download” by a company called “DVDVIDEOSOFT”. It proved that I was wrong; there exists a program!!!

Yes, this program does not only download whole youtube playlists, but also, whole youtube channels, Can you believe that? Add to this that the program is a freeware; in fact, all the programs of this company are freewares!!!

The features of Free YouTube Download:

Free YouTube Download is one of the most usable programs on the web to download YouTube videos, single videos as well as whole collections such as:
– complete playlists and show lists;
– users’ channels;
– all videos from personal playlists (History, Liked, Favourites, Watch later, etc.);
– artist’s playlists;
– videos from Movies Category;
– videos from Music Category;
– videos from YouTube charts;
– video responses.

Free YouTube Download combines simplicity of usage as well as advanced downloading features which you can set as you like:
– download videos in original YouTube quality or convert them to AVI, MP4, WMV;
– enjoy multistream downloading;
– customize output name easily;
– save and load links from external text files;
– save download history;
– import videos to iTunes automatically;
– download videos which require YouTube authorization via Firefox, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome;
– enable compatibility with screen reading software.

Free YouTube Download contains no spyware or adware. It’s clearly free and absolutely safe to install and run.

As a thank-you for this great program and other great programs this company produces, I subscribed to their Facebook page. If you liked their program (I am pretty sure that you will), I suggest that you subscribe to their Facebook page as a small return for their great free programs. Here is the link:

Finally, here is the link to the page where you can download “Free youtube Download”.

I highly recommmend this video. I have been using this program since more than 1.5 years, and till now, I haven’t found any thing negative about it. Not a single error did I face when I used this program to download hundreds of videos from youtube.

Anatomy videos by Dr. Ahmed M. Kamal: How to download my whole channel on watch the videos offline? For those of you not interested in “anatomy”, you can read this tutorial just an example.

To download youtube videos  and watch them offine, follow the following steps. I am sure that watching these videos offline would be easier for most students taking into considerations that the prevalence of internet use is still low in most arab countries (isn’t it?) not to mention the absence of high speed connections.

Downloading the videos certainly will decrease the number of views of the videos on my channel. This is to clarify more the fact that I did not upload these videos for fame or financial gain. This is in particular to someone who once contacted  me alluding that I might be “profiting” form publishing these videos!!!

What about the permission of Dr. Ahmed M. Kamal? My explanation is still the same; it is the one I wrote more than two years ago and is placed in the “Description” of each and every 400+ anatomy videos I published.

1. If you want to download my whole channel, copy its URL: If you want to download specific playlist, for example, “Upper Limb”, locate its URL then copy it: Do the same for other playlists either in my channel or in any place in youtube!

2. Open “Free YouTube Download”.

3. Click on the “Paste Button”.

4. The program will take a short time analyzing the channel; notice the word “Checking”. You can choose the “Quality” of the videos to be downloaded. The program can download the videos in multiple formats; the higher the defintion, the larger the size of the downloaded video, and subsequently, the longer the time for the downloads to finish!

5. the numbe of videos will appear.

6. You can specify which videos to or not to download by clicking on the “Playlist” blue link.

7. Click the image button to start downloading and wait until all videos are finished donwloading. All done automatically without the need of any further interference on your behalf.

Happy Studying!!!

I cannot understand why wikipedia does not allow advertisements? A personal appeal to Jimmy Wales!!!

Since weeks, I see a nagging advertisement on top of every page of wikipedia. In this advertisement, there is always someone new who is trying to convince the readers of donating money to wikipedia.

This is an example. A personal appeal from an indian wikipedia author “Dr. Sengai Podhuvan”.

I can not understand why wikipedia can not allow ads to be published?

According to its founder (Jimmy Wales):

image“Commerce is fine. Advertising is not evil. But it doesn’t belong here. Not in  Wikipedia” Jimmy Wales, Wikipedia founder.
Source: Wikimedia foundation

Why Mr. Jimmy? Why adverstising doesn’t belong to wikipedia? Is nagging us with a banner for donation better? I have been seeing this banner since at least 1 month ago… If you had allowed an advertisement to be placed instead of this appeal, surely, wikipedia could have generated much more money than the amount it is asking to be donated!!!

Update 23.12.2011, 22:33:
Am I “self-inconsistent” by writing the above? Thanks to “anonymous” for raising this question.

If I knew that an ad that generates money is placed on the top of the page of the website that I want to prosper more and more, then I am happy not only to see one ad… but tens of them…

In my opinion, wikipedia is an important milestone in the history of mankind. Yes, it created a new standard for sharing knowledge. This has been done without ads. Yes. But wouldn’t allowing ads help boost this amazing and noble project? Wouldn’t it allow wikipedia to expand more and more?

Mr. Jimmy, the problem is that you are not providing a logical reason for not accepting ads. The only reason that you are providing is that you just want to “be different”. Yes, you were successful. But you did “something different” in a way that negatively affects your great project.

When I founded Wikipedia, I could have made it into a for-profit company with advertising banners, but I decided to do something different. We’ve worked hard over the years to keep it lean and tight. We fulfill our mission, and leave waste to others.

Ads: Why not?

I respect a person’s decision if it is based on a logical reason… not to mention deciding it in order just to “be different”  and ignoring “logic” in the way…

Panormaic view from top of my house created using “Kolor autpano Giga 2.5”

Photo0437 Photo0438 Photo0439 Photo0440 Photo0441 Photo0443 Photo0444 Photo0445 Photo0446 Photo0447 Photo0448 Photo0449

I took the above “12” photos using the 5 MP camera of my Nokia X2-00 cell phone. I merged them into one photo using a special program called “Kolor Autopano Giga”. This program does not require any special knowledge or training. With a few clicks, it automatically generates one panoramic photo.

Here is the resultant photo. Click on it to be able to see more details; you will be taken to the same photo in my Picasa account. To zoom in, one of the buttons in the picasa page is a “zoom in” button in the form of a “magnifying glass image.

Click to go to the same photo in my picasa accout. There, you can zoom in the photo to see more details.

I have written about the same program in 16.08.2009. Click here to read the post and see another photo that I created using an earlier version of the program. It is because of how enthusiastic and impressed that I am writing for the second time about this program.

Open Letter to Orange Telecom Jordan on their terrible service

Join Jordanian Blogger Nasseem Tarawneh, click on the link below. See how you can help:

I like the following part of his post:

Consider it an experiment in Jordanian social media. People are constantly asking me whether Jordanian bloggers have an impact on politics in Jordan – and I always say probably not. But let’s see if we, as customers and as citizens, can use blogs and social media to impact the private sector.

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of just writing…

Amazing Program: Autopano. Create 360 degrees photos!

Kolor Autopano Prog V1.4.0Have you ever wanted to merge many photos in one so as to show more of a landscape?

I always thought such photos are beautiful. A beautiful photo I always remember is one of Jerusalem. This photo gives you a view of the whole city. But could you and I do make such photos?

Here are 5 photos I took using my very old, dying, Nokia N90 phone. I merged them together using a program  called “Autopano”. Sorry, the program merged them. I only had to click a button. The program then automatically merged all of them into one photo. Amazing!

How to open microsoft office programs via the run command?! It works on all computers. In other words, it doesn’t need any pre-settings:

Can such a shortcut method be used on other applications except the previous?! Searching Secrets in Google

As a direct result of my not finding any possible closet for the books, I arranged the books in the cupboard above in my parent’s house. I found this piece of paper which I obviously kept for the article of: “Searching Secrets in Google”

I want to get rid of this hardly kept paper, but the information inside of are new to me, so I am computerizing these new information. The article from the Jordanian Al-Rai newspaper dates back to: August, 10th, 2006. I have kept it that long period only to through it away in minutes.

((Secrets of Searching in Google))

_ Two words with the presence of a space: Google shows results containing both of the words.

_ Writing “Or” between two words: Google shows pages containing the first word or containing the second word.

_ – : to limit the range of results, i.e. writing virus-computer make Google search for the word virus not for the word computer.

– Lord of the rings + I (Using roman numerals).

_ ~ : search for the word and its synonyms. i.e. ~auto loan, Google will show results containing the word auto and its synonyms like car, automobile, etc.

_ define: search for the definition of a word, i.e. define:normalization. [Normalization: Bring to a normal or standard stae.]

_ Word_1*Word_2: Results containing the two words with one word separating them.

_ Word_1 … Word_2 : i.e. DVD player 50$ … 100$

_ date: time Word : i.e. date:3 Olympics, results containing the word Olympics during the last 3 months.

_ To get information about a certain site: info:Site_URL. i.e.

_ date: 1 internet download manager

_ iPod 10$ … 60$

Update: The newspaper page is now sitting in the bin.

Facebook… I am coming!

Though most of the studetns in my faculty lab are always surfing this site, though I got many invitations from close friends (Yazen MS, for example) of mine to join this enigmatic site, though I always read how facebook made the headlines, I never was never convinced to open an account in Facebook. Now, in the next few minutes, I will be opening a facebook account. But why?

For 2 main reasons: In advertisments promoting goods and products, companies are ready to pay milliions and millions of dollars just to have an important person (Actors, football players, singers…) appear in their advertisment. It is because when the viewer see this will immediately follow the certainly ‘good’ choice of this person or that. It happened with me today, I got convinced by 2 things:

1. Amman municipality have an account.
2. The site of which I haven’t entered for ages… Incredibly, it has an account on facebook.

How strange?! Those 2 accounts which I discovered almost half an hour ago will make me have an account there… See you there… I hope that I won’t get addicted to it. 🙂
